Glasgow School of Art

Glasgow School of ArtEstablished in 1845, the School of Design Glasgow government, he changed his name to the Glasgow School of Art in 1853. Originally it was Ingram Street 14, but fired in 1868 after McLellan Galleries. In 1896, work began on a new building that will house the school Renfrew Street.
The building was designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh for the Commission, elected by the school director, Francis Newbery, who for a time of expansion and a reputation for fast supervised designed. The first half of the building in 1899 and finished the second half of 1909. Campus school has increased since that time and in 2009 an international architectural competition was launched to conducted an architect design team to develop a plan, see Campus manager and the design of the construction phase 21 21 The building is opposite the Mackintosh building on a site now Tower of Foulis, Assembly and Newbery building is occupied. The competition was designed by architect Steven Holl in New York won the collaboration with architects JM based Glasgow
